Progress reports for Language Arts and SS were sent home. Please note that as we are in the beginning of the marking period, there are fewer scores. With fewer scores, each assignment has a greater impact on the overall grade. There are only 2 scores in Social Studies. If one of the assignments was not turned in, the grade in class is an E. This will change dramatically once all work is submitted. We also have the Request to Retake form that students may fill out and return with your signature to retake any test. Retakes or missed tests are usually taken on Wednesday in the library or Friday during team time.
Mrs. McHugh had printing troubles and could not get the progress reports printed on Friday. Science and Math progress reports should be coming home on Monday instead.
Math
Our math quiz will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 19th. A little extra practice on decimal place value would be tremendously helpful this weekend. Also, please consider signing up with xtramath.org. I sent home individual student codes last week. It is a great tool for practicing math facts.
Science
We are in the process of graphing the amount of usable water we have on Earth. We will be learning about the water cycle this week. A big thank you to Mahya Wood for coming in during team time on Friday to share her expertise about the health of our freshwater systems in Michigan.
Language Arts
The parent newsletter for Lesson 6 was sent home today. We will have spelling and vocabulary tests on Friday, November 22. We will not have a grammar test for this lesson. Please encourage reviewing the words for a few minutes each evening.
Social Studies
The test on chapter 6 that was scheduled for Tuesday, November 19, is moved to Monday November 25. We will complete a study guide that will be sent home Wednesday. We will play review games in class, but it is necessary to review the material at home in order to be
successful.
Canned Food Drive
We will be doing a STEM activity the Tuesday before Thanksgiving where each child will need to have a canned good. Navigator is teaming up with Pathfinder to collect canned goods for senior citizens in our community who are short on food. After our activity, all non-expired canned goods will be included in our count of donations. If we have the most canned food items, our team could win a liquid nitrogen ice cream party!! Please send in the canned food on or before Tuesday, November 26.
Wonders of the Week
The week of November 4th was organized. Congrats to Brooklyn R. and Holly C. for being organized!
