Today your child is bringing home progress reports for each class. We had time in class for students to find missing work, gather new copies, and meet with a teacher to clear up questions. As it is the beginning of the quarter, one missing assignment will have a great impact on the overall grade for a class. Once missing work is turned in, grades will go up. Please encourage your child to take care of any missing work as soon as possible. Please sign and return the progress reports on Monday. You can keep up with your students grades by regularly checking Mi-Star, as well.
Next week is Homecoming Week!

Today your child is bringing home the Student/Parent Newsletter for Journeys lesson 2. We will begin lesson 2 on Monday. The vocabulary and spelling words will be assessed next Friday. This week we began listening to the realistic fiction novel, Frindle. I have been modeling how to respond in the reading journal using examples from Frindle. Students practiced responding in the journal about their own independent reading book. Please continue to encourage daily reading.
Science
Please ask you student about what we have been doing in science. Our new program, Phenomenal Science, is very different than what the students are used to but they are doing an amazing job with it. We have studied zebra mussels, what they do in our lakes, and what their effects might be. Students have made observations and asked great questions.
